A Global Response to a Bold Vision
The recruitment phase for the MSCA Doctoral Network UPLIFT reaches its close. Over the past few months, we’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible global interest in our project—and we’re now just a few steps away from starting the exciting journey with our UPLIFT Doctoral Candidates.
From the moment our calls opened, the enthusiasm for UPLIFT was evident. We received 275 applications from over 60 countries, including more than 100 applications from female researchers. This response reflects the global relevance and resonance of our mission: to revolutionize radiotherapy by advancing upright solutions through innovative technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Upright patient positioning will make radiotherapy more accessible, more cost effective, and could even offer possible therapy benefits, such as increased lung volumes, or more stable prostate positioning. Our doctoral candidates will embark on exciting and ambitious journeys on the path to bringing upright patient positioning to clinical practice.
After a competitive review and shortlisting process, 53 outstanding candidates were invited for final interviews with our UPLIFT supervisors during March 2025. The level of talent, motivation, and vision among these early-stage researchers was exceptional—and made the final decisions both challenging and inspiring.
We are proud to announce that 16 positions have now been filled, with selected candidates coming from a diverse range of academic, cultural, and geographical backgrounds. Each one brings unique expertise and fresh perspectives that will drive forward the UPLIFT mission.
